CEO Blog: December 2023

Happy Birthday, Touch Trust

It’s Sunday, 10th December 2023, and Touch Trust Ltd is precisely 25 years old. Our founder, Dilys Price OBE, registered the company on 10 December 1998.

Since my first day with the charity at the beginning of January this year, I’ve looked forward to this day. It’s been a busy year for me and the whole team, continuing to deliver our vital services and preparing for what’s next. The charity has seen many changes over the last decade, and it’s faced some hard times, so I don’t take further change lightly.

December isn’t a great time to have a birthday party (it’s hard enough to organise our own staff Christmas party, let alone a big, public event!), so we plan to celebrate properly in 2024. Rather than have one birthday, we treat it as a whole year of celebration. If you’re not already subscribed to our email newsletter, please sign up here or follow us on our social media channels to stay up to date. We don’t want you to miss your invitation!

So what do you get a 25-year-old charity for its birthday? How about a makeover?

If you’re reading this on our website, you’ll already see it. (Don’t we look great in purple?) As of today, Touch Trust is now officially known as Two Rhythms. At first glance, it’s quite a significant change, but if you look a little closer, you’ll see that we’re still the charity you love.

So why are we changing? There are many reasons, but the biggest is that ‘touch’ has always been an optional element of our method. It’s not suitable for all guests, and some care providers operate a ‘zero touch’ policy. Our community told us that the name ‘touch’ was a barrier, so we’ve chosen a name that works for all guests. In fact, the name comes directly from the method Dilys created that we continue to use today. Every guest, every session, for 25 years has contributed the rhythms of their breath and heartbeat.

So what’s next for Two Rhythms? We can’t change everything overnight, so you may continue to see ‘Touch Trust’ here and there. We still need to change the sign over the door. Soon, though, you’ll see Two Rhythms everywhere you’re used to seeing Touch Trust, and hopefully, we’ll be popping up in lots of new places, too.

I’m sure you have questions, so we’ve prepared an FAQ to help. If that doesn’t cover it, then please get in touch.

Happy Birthday, Touch Trust Ltd. Here’s to Two Rhythms’ next 25 years!

Be well,

P.S. – The exceptional Creative Design agency, Rednine, made our new look possible. They’re especially great at working with charities, so if you need something similar, please check them out.
